Hello readers! For this post, I’m excited to announce my first giveaway!
It’s crazy to imagine I only started blogging a little over a month ago, and here I am with such a big reach already. Hello Little Monsters has provided me with their Backseat Organizer to giveaway to one of my readers. I’m really excited about this giveaway, because it is something that can help all moms organize the car – which can be like one huge diaper bag for us moms!
Kids are messy. They need all this stuff. So we have stuff EVERYWHERE. Their stuff is in the house (in every room, including the basement), the garage, the yard, the fridge, and the car! And if you don’t keep up with it, it gets a little crazy an super overwhelming. My giveaway can help you organize all the stuff your kids use in your car! This week, Hello Little Monsters sent me a Backseat Organizer for my car and one for one of my lucky readers ;). They also sent me some Reusable Food Pouches that I had the opportunity to review.
If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I love to make my own baby food in pouches! I used to buy pouches for my little one, but they quickly became a favorite for Jax (and a burden to my wallet!). I realized that I could make my own for a fraction of the cost, and actually know what was in the pouches I was feeding my children. I absolutely love pouches, because Jax loves pouches. Anything that helps me feed that picky child of mine is okay in my book.
Hello Little Monsters makes a set of reusable pouches that I’ve come to absolutely love! They are dishwasher safe, freezer safe, and warm up easily in hot water.
The Hello Little Monsters Pouches are completely dishwasher safe, although I would recommend (as does the manufacturer) keeping them on the top rack only! This includes the plastic reusable caps. Also, I did my best to not set myself for failure by letting the remaining food sit in the pouch. I promptly rinsed it out with warm water and placed it in the dishwasher vertically (much like you would a cup).
The pouches held food in (when not over-filled), froze well (no cracking, leaking, or other abnormalities), and thawed in very warm/hot water. Because they freeze relatively flat, the pouch thawed in a matter of minutes in my large mixing bowl filled with water! That was especially nice. I don’t know about your little one, but Jax gives me next to no notice when he is hungry, ha! I typically rotated the pouches from the freezer into the fridge to thaw overnight though, because that just saves everyone time and sanity.
I currently use these pouches to make our own applesauce and yogurt/fruit/veggie blend for both kids, because we are now past the baby food stage. They are a great tool for our family in both saving money and eating healthy fruits and vegetables. Lord knows we all could use help getting our kids to eat healthy!
Today, I made my own Greek yogurt pouches (I haven’t actually made the yogurt myself yet, but I used some organic stuff from Kroger that my kids love – packed with 14g of protein PER serving, WOW!) with strawberries and oranges. My kids love this combo, and what they don’t know is that I sneak in some spinach leaves when they aren’t looking.
I would also recommend buying more than just one pack (they are sold in packs of six) if you like to make big batches. With 16 oz of greek yogurt, 6-8 medium/small-sized strawberries (sorry, I didn’t count!), a super-secret petite-mom-handful of spinach, and one whole orange, I managed to fill all six of my 4oz. pouches.
*I’m not sure why my pointer finger resembles the Lochness Monster here. But it’s kind of cracking me up now that I’m seeing it 🙂
The fact that he took the dinosaur shaped chicken nugget OUT of his mouth (notice he is still fondly holding it – they’re his fav!) to eat from the pouch is incredible. That right there is how I know he really likes something, and it is easy enough for my petite little guy to hold with one hand!)
I would definitely recommend these pouches, if not for the simple peace of mind you get from knowing what’s in your baby’s food, then for the see-through “window” on the back! We had such a great experience with them, and can really vouch for their quality (assuming you care for them properly).
For my giveaway, Hello Little Monsters has gifted Slay At Home Mother a Backseat Organizer for one of my readers!
